FAQ
Is it possible for those under 16 years of age to open a Livret Jeune?
The Livret Jeune is a savings account for young people who are between the ages of 12 and 25, able to open it themselves.
Therefore, therefore, it is perfectly adapted for an adolescent preparing for independence.
If still a minor, they will have to provide the bank with the following documents and information: the address(es) of their legal representative(s) (parent(s) or guardian(s)), identification card and proof of residence.
Livret Jeune: Can I make withdrawals using a debit card?
To keep the child from spending his entire savings too quickly, withdrawals from the Livret Jeune are restricted and limited to €20 per withdrawal.
Between the ages of 12 and 16, withdrawals require the authorization of the child's legal representative(s) (parent(s) or guardian(s)). After that, the child may withdraw money on his/her own, unless the parent(s) specifically indicate otherwise.
The Livret may also be linked to a debit card that allows withdrawals under the same conditions as inside of a branch, with the option to apply a limit.
Holder of a Livret Jeune: What to do after I turn 25?
Did you just celebrate your 25th birthday and wonder what will happen to your Livret Jeune?
You may not keep it after the 31st of December of the year you turn 25.
The best solution is to open another bank or savings account (e.g. Livret A) ahead of time; then, before the closing date of your Livret Jeune, transfer the amount to your new account. It is best to think ahead and consult with one of our International Offshore Bank of European Union advisors to find the solution best suited to your plans and saving goals.
Is it possible to have both a Livret Jeune and a Livret A?
You may not hold more than one Livret Jeune, but you may hold one Livret Jeune and one Livret A .
This is a good solution if you are nearing the age of 25, because opening a Livret A account ahead of time allows you to quickly transfer in the balance of your Livret Jeune when the latter is closed.
